The city of Tecate is located in the state of Baja California, in the northwest of the Mexican Republic.

Tecate was part of the San Diego Mission since the 18th century, in 1833 the lands of the region were granted to Juan Bandini, and in 1863 the then president of Mexico, Don Benito Juárez, decreed the agricultural colony of Tecate, although the foundation of the city is celebrated until April 2, 1888.
