Ciudad de Mexico.- AMLO stated that he will earn at least 3 million pesos for his book Halfway down the road, which was published in August 2021, when he was halfway through his six-year term as Mexico’s top ruler.
At the morning conference on March 16, 2022, the president of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that his opponents would not be happy with the profits he would have for his book, since these are at least 3 million pesos.
“My opponents are not going to like it, but my book has sold well, it is the best-selling book on political and social issues in the country, more than 200,000 copies have been sold, paying the corresponding taxes, and I will receive about 3 million pesos because they give me 12% of each book sold”.
In this book, President López Obrador explains what it has been like to govern Mexico from a political position contrary to the one that had governed the country during previous decades, a period he has called “neoliberal” and which he blames for the shortcomings that the nation is experiencing. at the moment.
AMLO’s book had an approximate cost of 250 pesos when it first went on sale, that is, about 13 US dollars.
“Half the way down the road” was published on August 30, 2021, days before the Third Government Report was made. , which marks in Mexico the arrival in the middle of the presidential six-year term, since a Mexican president lasts 6 years in power -however, this could change with the revocation of the mandate-.
Austerity has always been one of the principles that AMLO has tried to highlight in his person and his policies, this ideology has caused his opponents to use the minimum of “comfort” that the president of Mexico has to criticize him.
The last case that caused controversy was that of AMLO’s eldest son, José Ramón López Beltrán, who rented a luxury house in Houston, Texas, along with his wife, for which the AMLO government was strongly attacked, as well as his son.
Therefore, announcing how much he will earn from the sale of his book, could generate reactions in his opponents, that is why he declared that “he will probably donate the money.”
