Baja California will go to an epidemiological green traffic light starting Monday, February 21, effective March 6, thanks to the effective control of the pandemic in the state, which allowed a decrease in active cases, infections, and hospital occupancy in the fourth wave. of COVID-19 infections, confirmed the Secretary of Health, J. Adrián Medina Amarillas.
“It is a pleasure to ratify the good news, this change in traffic lights was the product of co-responsibility work, between the health sector, society, the business sector that made an effort to abide by the restrictive measures and thanks to all this joint work is that we are one of the entities that transition to green, which means a big step for us, but we must not lower our guard”, he said.
The official indicated that at the low-risk traffic light, mobility is carried out without restrictions, economic and social activities are opened on a regular basis, the operation of school activities is carried out under the model of the new normality.
“Hotels, restaurants, gyms, bars, cinemas, shopping malls, supermarkets. All public spaces will be able to work with 100 percent capacity”, Ávila reiterated in a video broadcast on his social networks.
However, he stressed that preventive measures such as the use of face masks in closed spaces, permanent sanitary filters at entrances, and the implementation of sanitary protocols in massive events are maintained.
He also reiterated that for this progress within the pandemic, the permanence of booster vaccination sessions against COVID-19 for people 30 years of age and older, as well as the coverage of adolescents and the lagging population that has requested their first dose, has been essential.
