Videos on social networks show the alleged members of the cartel with alleged members of the CJNG, who were linked to the murder of five students in Zacatecas. “We regret the events of the last few days, where these garbage killed some innocent students, justice will be done for them,” says one of the hooded men in front of the camera.

video is circulating on social networks where alleged members of the Sinaloa Cartel have in their possession alleged members of the Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) and Los Taliban cartels, whom they blame for being responsible for the murder of students and miners in Zacatecas, in the center-north of the country.

In the recording, you can see several uniformed men, with military weapons and hoods, who have the three captured on their knees, including a 17-year-old minor.

“Good afternoon, people of Zacatecas, we introduce ourselves, we are the Sinaloa Cartel, Operative MZ (Mayo Zambada), our mission is to exterminate anyone who harms the people,” begins the statement, which is read in front of the camera by one of the hooded

“We regret the events of the last few days, where this garbage killed some innocent students, justice will be done for them,” he adds.

The alleged members of the Sinaloa Cartel refer to the five young university students who were murdered after they left a nightclub in the city of Zacatecas on February 12. They are Alexia Monserrath Ábrego Esqueda (25 years old), Irving Castor Reyes (21), Natalio Torres Balderas (21), Luis Ángel Manzanares Cortés (25) and Valeria Landeros Calderón (24).

Four of the young people were found dead the next day, three of them inside a van in bags and with messages alluding to a criminal group; while the fourth was located in a vacant lot. A week later Landeros’ body was found.

Regarding these murders, the Zacatecas State Attorney General’s Office reported on Saturday that five people, three men, and two women, have already been captured for their alleged participation in the event.

THE CAPTURED

In the video, the three captured, including a 17-year-old minor, appear before the camera. The first two claim to be collaborators with the CJNG, while the third claims to be part of the Taliban and that he helped collect fees from “Cachacuaz”, “Draco” and “Chorizo”.

In addition, one of those captured affirms that the students were murdered to “warm up the plaza” and that the murder was ordered by his superior, whom he identified as “Comandante Chisco.” This, in turn, would carry out orders from “Comandante Toro”, who maintains his stronghold in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, CJNG territory.

For his part, the minor speaks of the murder of two miners —and six others who were injured—, who were attacked by an armed commando in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, on the same Saturday, February 12. According to the teenager, the miners were killed because “pieces of glass were left behind”; he also points out that the attack was ordered by “El 14”.

In the video, the alleged members of the Sinaloa Cartel say that they do not attack “against the Government or the citizenry” and do not make “a pact with any cartel organization.”

“Don’t pay attention to extortion, we are here to support you; As an example, the municipalities where we govern do not touch the innocent, our commitment is with the people”, they state.

However, they acknowledge that they have caused “collateral damage” in Jerez and Valparaíso, where they have a dispute with the CJNG and the wave of violence has generated the displacement of dozens of families.

They also comment that this will be their “last video” because they are not dedicated to “threatening and frightening citizens through videos.”

“We are dedicated to working to have a better Zacatecas; the people take care of themselves, they do not steal”, they emphasize.
