Miquihuana is a peculiar place in the Sierra Madre Oriental in Ciudad Victoria.
At an altitude of 1,892 meters above sea level, the Villa de Miquihuana was founded on May 14, 1849, with the name of the congregation of San Juan de Miquihuana. By 1855 the construction of the church of San Juan Bautista began, of which only the main façade and a painting that was captured on its walls by the year 1864 were preserved.
It would not be easy for the founders of the town and General Antonio Canales, since in June 1913 they were attacked by some 300 followers of General Alberto Carrera Torres, looting public buildings, setting fire to the stamp archive, and a store.
Days later Febronio Salazar was attacked with Huerta forces under his command. After three hours of hard fighting, the institutionalists were evicted, leaving 14 people dead.
Nowadays, this is a paradise in the mountains, as it is the highest part of the Sierra Madre, the forest is home to bears, white-tailed deer, and mountain tigers.
In the municipality, there are six springs, Ojo de Agua and Ojo de Agua de Gaspar, which supply the population. Its scenic beauty is recommended for those who travel the country on a motorcycle.
For those who are looking for local Mexican celebrations, the must-sees are Holy Week, when piloncillo and kite target shooting takes place, a day when you cannot ride a horse because, according to beliefs, they ride the Jesus of Nazareth.
And on June 24, when the day of Saint John the Baptist, patron saint of the town, is celebrated, the festival begins on the 20th and generally ends on the 30th of the same month. Dances on foot and on horseback, pastorelas, flower offerings, quermeses are usually the main attraction of the festivity.

This zone presents slopes, hilly and steep lands that cover 77.3% of the municipal surface, the semi-flat zones, located to the southeast and formed by land with slopes of 6% and that cover the remaining 14.4%.
Its temperate and extreme climate, with rains in summer, towards the northeast; intermediate and extreme temperate in the central and southeastern portion. Annually, the minimum temperatures recorded are 4ºC and the maximum 31ºC.
The rains begin from July to September, with rainfall of 500 to 700 millimeters. The hottest months are from May to August. In winter, northerly winds prevail.
