The Governments of Germany and the United Kingdom put Mexico on their red list of risk of contagion as a result of the increase in cases of Covid-19 in our country, which imposes new travel restrictions for people who want to go to these two European nations.
The government of the United Kingdom announced last week that Mexico would go to the red list, which implies that all travelers who have been to our country (or who want to visit the United Kingdom from Mexico), including British citizens, will have to go through a mandatory quarantine.
The new changes took effect from 4 a.m. on Sunday, implying that hundreds of British travelers who were in Mexico will have to cut their holidays to avoid a mandatory quarantine in a hotel established by the United Kingdom government. which could cost them up to five thousand pounds sterling (approximately 140 thousand Mexican pesos), as reported by The Guardian
Similarly, the German government placed Mexico on its version of the red list, although travel restrictions are much lower. These include that vaccinated travelers must demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by taking any of the vaccines approved by the World Health Organization or a mandatory five-day quarantine (in case of European citizenship or residence) .
In recent days, Mexico has had a significant increase in Covid-19 cases, with more than 20,000 cases a day (similar to the trend at the beginning of the year).
