The section of the Mayan Train that will go from Cancun to Playa del Carmen, will be elevated from nine to 10 meters high
Quintana Roo.- “From Cancun to Playa del Carmen the Mayan Train will go up, it is a viaduct, this is a beautiful area, it is the Caribbean Sea, turquoise; More than ten million foreign visitors arrive in Cancun ”, informed today the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador in his morning when referring to the construction of the work in the seven sections that it will have, which will conclude at the end of 2023.
He explained that Cancun is the best known in the world, but those who land at that airport can travel to the entire Mayan region with the train; Section 5 north, from Cancun to Playa del Carmen, is in charge of engineers from the Secretariat of National Defense ( Sedena ), who will carry out the work 10 meters above the ground.
This 49.8-kilometer stretch could be considered as the project’s flagship, as it is located within the most important tourist corridor in the region and requires a thorough analysis of possible technical solutions that result in a fast, safe, and functional construction, with total respect. to the ecological and archaeological environment, preserving, in addition, the continuity of the tourist activity and the least social and economic affectation of the inhabitants of the Rivera Maya .
“A railway viaduct will be built to interconnect the towns of Cancun with Playa del Carmen and various intermediate points through bus stops, resolved by a double electrified track supported by an elevated structure 9 to 10 meters high, made of reinforced concrete based on capital columns and trough-type double beams ”.
The justification for the concept of raising the double railroad track, in addition to limiting the effects on tourists, residents and businesses, will allow reducing noise and vibration levels. Thanks to the electromotive system and the replacement of sleepers and ballast by a slab track system, the track drowned in structural concrete, known as slab track, will also guarantee traffic safety and low maintenance costs .
