“I embrace the people of Haiti for the unfortunate assassination of the president of that country and his wife. It is something that we very much regret. The president of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse, was in the act of inauguration, when I assumed the presidency of Mexico” , He said.

“It is a poor people, in need of international help and what happened is very regrettable. We pay tribute to them, the people and the Government of Mexico,” said the president.

The murder of the Haitian president and his wife was expressed in a statement by the country’s interim prime minister, Claude Joseph, who described the act as “detestable, inhuman and barbarous.”

Joseph claimed that the Haitian National Police and other authorities had the situation in the Caribbean country under control.

Moïse, de 53 años, llevaba más de dos años de gobierno por decreto, luego de que el país caribeño no celebrara unas elecciones previstas, lo que llevó a disolver el Parlamento.
