Volaris launches new Cancun-Mexicali flight

Cancun, Quintana Roo (June 27, 2021). — Airline Volaris says they have strengthened its domestic network with the inauguration of its new Mexicali to Cancun route. The airline now connects Mexicali, the capital city of Baja California, with the city of Cancun.

In a statement, Volaris highlighted its commitment to providing more connectivity options, adding that this month, it began linking the two tourist destinations.

“We will connect Mexico from pole to pole, which consolidates us as the airline with the most destinations in the country. It also helps us to support the air and tourist reactivation, vital for the local and national economic recovery,” said Miguel Aguiñiga, director of Market Development and Distribution at Volaris.

Volaris reported that there will be eight flights scheduled in June, which will increase to 36 in December.

“The recovery of the Mexican Caribbean is taking place at a good pace due to the confidence of visitors. Proof of this is this flight that connects Mexicali and Cancun. We congratulate Volaris, which encourages the Mexican traveler to enjoy the wonders that our country offers,” said Darío Flota Ocampo, general director of the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council.

“Thanks to this new Volaris route, users who traveled by bus from Mexicali to Cancun will save 54 hours, so they will have more time to enjoy their vacations,” he added.

Mario Escobedo Carignan, Secretary of Sustainable Economy and Tourism of Baja California said that with the Mexicali-Cancun route, they continue to position themselves as one of the states with the greatest connectivity in the country.
