Mexico will receive one million vaccines against COVID from the pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson, in a single dose, from the United States, informed President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

In a brief message, the president announced that the figure was confirmed by the vice president of the United States, Kamala Harris.

“We spoke with Vice President Kamala Harris. She was kind enough to inform us, prior to their announcement in the United States, of the decision to send us one million Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccines. I thanked him on behalf of the people of Mexico,” López Obrador wrote on Twitter.

This Thursday, the US government reported that it will donate 80 million vaccines against COVID to countries around the world, of which 75% will be distributed through the Covax program in regions such as Latin America.

“We share these doses, not to obtain favors or to obtain concessions. We share these vaccines to save lives and lead the world to end the pandemic with the power of our example and our values, ”said US President Joe Biden.

López Obrador pointed out that in the coming days there would be important announcements about the arrival of more vaccines.
