Farewell ceremony in honor of the Sinaloa Police director murdered three days ago

The Sinaloa Public Security Secretariat paid tribute to the director of the Preventive State Police, Joel Ernesto Soto, who was murdered on Monday, May 24th, in the municipality of Angostura.

He was shot when he was driving his vehicle on the Benito Juárez highway near the Cerro Bola community, in La Angostura, one of the regions with the greatest presence of the Sinaloa Cartel.

Just three weeks ago he had survived a confrontation with armed civilians in Mazatlán.

In the private ceremony held at the facilities of the State Public Security Complex, the police chief was remembered by his family, friends, and colleagues from the State Preventive Police.

Authorities, family members and fellow police officers set up an honor guard next to the ashes of Lieutenant Colonel Soto; and the Secretary of Public Security of Sinaloa, Cristóbal Castañeda Camarillo, handed over the national flag to the relatives to continue with a minute of applause.
