La Francophonie week is celebrated from March 18 to 27.
Did you know that in the world Francophonie week has been celebrated every year since 1998?
Indeed, the 70 States and Governments of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) have celebrated it since March 20, 1998, when the OIF proclaimed it as the International Day of La Francophonie. This day the link between them is celebrated, which is the French language as well as its diversity.
This festival was chosen on this specific date because that day is the framework for the celebration of the creation of the first Francophone organization at the Niamey Conference in 1970, known as the Agency for Cultural and Technical Cooperation.
More than 370 million Francophones celebrate speaking French on 5 continents through competitions, shows, film festivals, literary meetings, gastronomic events, art exhibitions, etc. This year, with the pandemic, Francophones will also celebrate but in a different way. Everything will be done through virtual events.
One of the institutions that will join this celebration will be the French Alliances of the world, so the Tijuana French Alliance will not be left behind, since it has prepared a week full of activities to commemorate this important celebration.
The commemoration began on Saturday March 20 with narrative and poetry workshops, a musical show, the inauguration event, among other equally exciting activities that will take place that day and throughout the week. However, the celebration will close with a stellar event.
