The municipal government of Acapulco announced the launch of the tourist information robot through the WhatsApp application, through which visitors will be able to know the location of the destination, learn about its attractions and even acquire tour operator services.

Since 2019, the city council established a contact channel through WhatsApp for tourists visiting the port to resolve their doubts and concerns, but the service was limited to business hours.

For this reason, the city council made an alliance with TuriWhats, to take charge of the technological support of a tool that would automatically answer the questions asked by visitors, said the Secretary of Tourism of Acapulco, José Luis Basilio.

“It is a robot that will answer messages 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, but it will also help companies to market their services and promote tourist spots and by-products that we already have but are little known,” said the official.

For his part, Iván Ruiz, undersecretary of municipal Tourism, explained that Acapulco was one of the first destinations to provide information through WhatsApp, but having the time limitation, it was necessary to enable it especially for the night, when tourists planned their next day.

One of the main advantages of the platform is that the user does not have to download an additional application, but simply has the popular WhatsApp tool to access the information that will be constantly updated.

In addition to warnings about the epidemiological traffic light, tourist experiences and events scheduled in Acapulco will be published.

Hugo Sánchez, head of TuriWhats, commented that this new tool will allow simultaneous communication with thousands of users at the same time, in addition to storing data such as the origin of visitors, among others, which will facilitate directing personalized information.

It will also be a statistical information tool for the destination since they will be able to generate reports, graphs, alerts, and maps to promote the tourist promotion of Acapulco.
