Hotel and hosting companies will strengthen and expand health protection and prevention measures.

The Quintana Roo Tourism Secretariat (SEDETUR) authorized hoteliers to increase their occupations from 60% currently allowed, to 80%, through a special permit available from December 21, 2020, to February 21, 2021; It may be requested by companies with Certification in Health Protection and Prevention in Tourist Facilities (CPPSIT).

Marisol Vanegas Pérez, secretary of the branch in Quintana Roo, argued that it was decided to grant this special permit, following the request of the Riviera Maya Hotel Association, which stated that for this winter season there are some hotels and specific days in which the Demand exceeds the maximum allowed at the yellow epidemiological light, which is 60%, after the health emergency that forced businessmen in the sector to close.

“In those cases, a special permit is granted only to accommodation companies certified with CPPSIT and that proves the ability to manage the surplus,” the official said. The concession is effective from December 21 to February 21 of next year.

Therefore, the hotels and hosting companies have to commit to reinforce and expand health protection and prevention measures, which include physical, operational, administrative, and strengthening adaptation and prevention protocols, a document issued by Sedetur stated.
