It is the first time that, in 10 years of the history of this international forum, Mexico has won first place as the representative of Latin America.

Governor Omar Fayad Meneses, thanked this award which not only recognizes the good economic practices undertaken by his administration, but also the strategy implemented to generate opportunities.

Which are synthesized in: the capture of 64 billion pesos and 62 large investment projects that have generated thousands of jobs.

World recognition was in the category of “Investment Awards”, within the framework of the Annual Investment Meeting 2020 (AIM), organized by the Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates.

The event was held virtually, due to the global health contingency, but which usually brings together investment experts from 170 countries in person each year.

Through a video message broadcast during the event, the Hidalgo president took advantage of the international forum to invite world investors to think of Hidalgo as their best option.

And he explained the benefits of the Mexican entity: for its ease of doing business, its privileged geographic location in the center of the country; its logistical capacity with road and air connections.

As well as the quality of human capital and the fact that it is listed as one of the safest entities in the country, which is one more attraction for business development.

Such is the case of Grupo Modelo’s investment for an amount of 800 million dollars, which created six thousand jobs and which has become an accelerator of economic and social development in the highlands of Hidalgo, he cited as an example.

Hidalgo was considered, among 23 world projects, for its ability to receive large foreign direct investment projects with a high impact on the trade balance, for its knowledge transfer processes, sustainability and local links, among other criteria that the AIM jury qualified.

Mexico had already won a second place through a project promoted by the ProMéxico agency and based in Toluca, State of Mexico.

Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates and as host, recognized the winners of the nine regions, among which Hidalgo stands out.

He congratulated them on recognizing their work in attracting investment, which he said represents “an important contribution to the growth and development of local and global markets.”

Digital AIM 2020 is a special edition of the world’s leading Annual Investment Meeting, which brought together 15,700 investment experts (43 senior officials), facilitating solid strategies and strengthening networks in the sector. Just in one day, it connected almost 7 thousand people on the platform.

It was a digital event to generate, exhibit, and facilitate the most attractive and safe investment projects and opportunities for investors from different parts of the world.
