On Sunday, September 27, the church of Tlaxcala joined the World Day of Migrants and Refugees 2020, where Father Elías Dávila Espinoza, in charge of the “Sagrada Familia” shelter, offered a message from the Cristo Rey parish, to ask for support towards those who leave their land in search of new job opportunities.

In an interview, he explained that the day registered its origin thanks to Pope Francis, since he is always concerned for migrants, so he decided to support this activity, in addition to the guidance he gave to the church to attend to human mobility in its various expressions.

“We must support migrants from any trench, integrate them into the community and give them confidence. Not because they are from another place they have tofeel alien,” he stressed. He mentioned that two Masses were celebrated in his parish, which were broadcast on online platforms, one at 12 noon and at seven at night, to replicate Pope Francis’ message and create awareness on this phenomenon.

“Due to the pandemic, we will not be able to carry out activities in the parish, but we will send a message through social networks, so that Tlaxcala migrants who live in other countries will also receive it,” the priest declared.
