Durango produced 46,523 tons of eggs to become a top producer

From January to August of the current year, egg production in the state of Durango was 46,523 tons, according to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader).

During the reference period, at the country level, there was a production of one million 976 thousand 545 tons of this food, one of the favorites of Mexican cuisine.

According to these figures, the state of Durango contributes 2.3 percent of the country’s egg production.

This is enough to position itself among the eight states with the highest production of this food in the Mexican Republic.

The state that reports the highest egg production is the state of Jalisco, with a total of 1,050,252 tons.

In second place is Puebla, with 319 thousand 008 tons of this staple food on the tables of Mexicans.

In third place is Sonora, with a production of 105 thousand 711 tons, followed by San Luis Potosí, where production was 81 thousand 602 tons.

In seventh place is Guanajuato, where production was 49,519 tons, followed by Durango with 46,523 tons.

In ninth place is the state of Sinaloa with 42,906 tons, while in tenth place is Coahuila, with 36,895 tons.

Mexico is the main egg consumer, with an annual consumption of 345 units per inhabitant, according to data from Sader herself.

The entities that stand out in Mexico for higher egg production are Jalisco, Puebla and Sonora.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) highlighted that Mexico ranks as the main consumer of eggs, and in order to meet national demand, 2.77 million tons are produced annually.

La Sader stressed that the above allows the production of eggs to be profitable for all national producers, however, Jalisco, Puebla and Sonora are the ones that stand out for their greater contribution in total production.
