Sonora– To offer tourists the certainty and confidence that the place they will visit in the entity will have first-rate trained personnel to assist them and avoid contagions, the Ministry of Economy, through the Commission for the Promotion of Tourism, will carry out a virtual training course for companies or people who are dedicated to the hotel, restaurant sector and other types of tourism service providers.
The Secretary of Economy, Jorge Vidal Ahumada, on behalf of Governor Claudia Pavlovich Arellano, stressed that with this type of program, such as the Training of Biosafety Protocols for the Reactivation of the Tourism Sector, the aim is to give certainty to national and foreign tourists that Sonora destinations are preparing to receive them with all the preventive measures required by the Ministry of Health.
“For us, training is elementary, if we don’t know how, we won’t get to where, that’s very clear to me; We know that the pandemic has greatly affected the part of the tourism sector and we have to design it and prepare to face all these adversities, ”he said.
The fact that investments in the tourism sector continue is a sign that they are betting on this sector and the state of Sonora, stressed the Minister of Economy.
Luis Núñez Noriega, the coordinator of the Commission for the Promotion of Tourism, highlighted that this Training Program on Biosafety Protocols for the reactivation of the Tourism Sector has the full support of the Secretary of State Health, University of Sonora, and CIAD, who they prepared the material and will teach the workshops.
He also thanked the members of the Lodging Tax Trust and entrepreneurs from the tourism sector, for betting on this type of tools that will help return to local and foreign tourists, the confidence and security of traveling to Sonora knowing that their health is a priority. .
“With this program, what we want is to offer tourists who visit us in Sonora the certainty and confidence that the place they are going to visit during their stay in Sonora, be it a restaurant, hotel or any office related to tourism, will count with first-rate trained personnel to assist you, avoid contagions and minimize any type of risk in relation to COVID-19, “he said.
The companies participating in these courses, he said, will receive the Safe Tourism Certificate, endorsed by Cofetur and the State Secretary of Health, which will assure local and foreign tourists that the establishments have adequate disinfection, healthy distance, management of food and biosecurity protocols.
In this first stage, there will be 1,500 economic units or companies, from the hotel sector, restaurant and other types of tourism service providers who will be able to receive the training will begin to be taught from next week virtually, it will not represent some type of cost for the companies or their workers.

The course will be taught by medical personnel and researchers from the University of Sonora and CIAD, including Guillermo Eleazar Arteaga Mac Kinney, a researcher from the Department of Chemical Sciences at the University of Sonora, and Lorena Noriega Orozco, from the Center for Research in Food and Development (CIAD), with a doctorate in Sciences and a specialty in Marine Resource Management and a degree in Food Chemistry (Specialized in Food Technology).
