Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The mayor of Playa del Carmen says on August 20th, municipal beaches will reopen, but with restrictions. During an interview with Radio Turquesa, the municipal president of Solidaridad Laura Berinstain Navarrete announced that on August 20, the public beaches will be reopened, warning that if residents do not abide by the rules, beaches will be closed again.

During her interview, Berinstain Navarrete highlighted the responsibility with which residents of Playa del Carmen have taken during the pandemic generated by coronavirus, an attitude that has yielded positive results as the region follows a gradual but constant reactivation of daily activities.

Berinstain Navarrete reported that after 15 days of the Outbreak Free campaign, the results are positive with health risk indicators decreasing by nine percentage points and hotel occupancy stable, which she noted, is the result of coordinated work with the health sectors.

The reopening of beaches entails rules, she says, among which are that those who visit them carry only the essentials and respect the mandatory hygiene and sanitary standards in place to avoid contagion. In case people do not comply, she says the city will close them again.
