MAZATLÁN.- Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres said that his government does have a plan for the economic reactivation of the port, however, there is still no date for it.

Mazatlán is in the critical stage of the health emergency due to the Covid-19 coronavirus, he argued.

“Right now there are no changes, I know that people are desperate, but there are no changes, businesses are not reopening, nothing changes, right now we are in the critical stage, and the only way is the full cooperation of Mazatlan society to be able to go to that part. “

Five days after completing a month that confirmed his suffering from coronavirus, the mayor of Mazatlán reappeared at a face-to-face press conference, in which he assured he is fully recovered.

According to a statement issued by the City Council, Benitez Torres is back in his duties as “after his full recovery from Covid-19, and in his first meeting with the media, he thanked God for this new opportunity in life.”
He recognized that it was not easy, since he had all the odds against him, however, he believes that God has something significant for him.

“Tell them that we are back, thank God. I must admit that it was not easy, we had very difficult days; Having everything against such a disease is not easy (…) However, I believe that God has predestined me for something important, because here we are, ”he said.

He assured that during his recovery, he never stopped working for Mazatlán, and that proof of this are the 50 works that have already been completed and will soon be inaugurated. These works are part of the 255 new works package that will be delivered this year.

No date for the economic reopening
The Chemist Benitez Torres said that his Government does have a plan for the economic reactivation of the port, however, there is still no date for it, since Mazatlán is in the critical stage of the health emergency due to the Covid-19 coronavirus.

On the other hand, the Mayor said that the new soccer stadium will be an important tourist boost for Mazatlán, since it will bring the arrival of soccer players and fans from other parts of Mexico to the city, and will be a national benchmark.

He also referred to a video that circulates on social networks and in which a young man who is beaten by elements of the Ministry of Public Security appears. He assured that the agents have already been suspended from their activity and are being investigated by Internal Control.
