BCS: Expat residents with the greatest resistance to keeping off Mexico beaches during the crisis

Regarding this situation, the head of Civil Protection in Los Cabos pointed out that if necessary, the support and intervention of the National Institute of Migration could be used. 

San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur. – Regarding the prohibition of activities on the beaches during the COVID-19 quarantine, the head of Civil Protection in Los Cabos, Eric Santillán Catillo, indicated that, although a large number of people have been removed from these beaches, they are in mostly foreign residents who have shown greater resistance to yield to the coronavirus restrictions. 

The official commented that the above has been evidenced through inter-institutional operations that have been maintained in the tourist destination since the mandate to ban the use of beaches.  He explained that this situation has been occurring with foreigners on properties near the sea, especially in the coastal region, and among the arguments put forward is that the acquisition of the property, in turn, gave them the right to use the beach. 

For this reason, Santillán pointed out that if necessary, the support and intervention of authorities empowered from Immigration could be requested. 

“They are the ones that have been costing a little more work (Expats), in enforcing the beach ban, but with support, the National Institute of Migration (INM), will be the ones to take the pertinent letters,” said Eric Santillán. 

For this reason, he mentioned surveillance on beaches as well as coastal areas, it will continue to prevent people from going to them and try to respect the recommendation for isolation, and in turn, warned that in recent weeks they have issued warnings to those who have been neglecting the restriction on the use beach areas.

Finally, the director of Civil Protection stated that since the beach closure mandate, at least two thousand people have been removed from them.
