Guasave is a city which is the seat of the homonymous municipality in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. It is located in the northwestern part of Mexico, not far from the city of Los Mochis.
Benjamín Ahumada López, director of Economic Development, informed that the gastronomic attributes of the Guasave municipality are a strong tool to potentiate the region not only in tourism, but also to position it as a state brand city, such as Tequila, in the state of Jalisco.
“It is a proposal that we have been working on as part of the Municipal Development Plan of the Tourism Directorate, we are basically very focused on promoting the gastronomy of Guasave, and its tourism potential, but the plan is to make Guasave a brand city (like Tequila in Jalisco),” the official continued.
Ahumada López explained that the proposal was made by the Council for Economic Development of Sinaloa in Guasave and that they are working on it, in coordination with the Directorate of Tourism and Economic Development of the municipality, in order to position Guasave as the gastronomic capital of Sinaloa.
We recently had a meeting, where we presented the proposal to the productive sectors ,and hopefully we will wrap it up and work together turn Guasave into the gastronomic capital of the state. ”

The official mentioned that the project contemplates hoteliers, restaurants, merchants and service providers, which are some of the main sectors involved.
“We are confident that we can make this project a reality here in Guasave..” Ahumada López concluded.
