SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, Mexico – A 46-year-old woman has been handed over to the Guanajuato State Prosecutor’s Office following a violent incident in which she struck a traffic officer while attempting to flee a citation.

The incident occurred over the weekend in the downtown area of San Miguel de Allende. According to local reports, the driver was attempting to evade a traffic violation for occupying a public transportation stop when she collided with the officer.

Authorities identified the woman as Ada Marcela “N,” 46, who now faces charges of attempted homicide of a public servant. Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect sought a legal injunction (amparo) after being taken into custody by the authorities.

The San Miguel de Allende Secretary of Citizen Security issued a statement reiterating that no traffic violation justifies aggression toward others or endangering the safety of public servants during the performance of their duties.

Officials confirmed that the traffic officer’s health status remains stable following the collision.
