Community leader Abraham Roberto Simón Díaz has launched a scathing critique of the current administration in Campeche, labeling the government of Layda Sansores as the “worst” the state has ever seen. The critique centers on a perceived lack of transparency in public spending and a deteriorating security situation that has left residents feeling vulnerable.
Allegations of Fiscal Mismanagement
In a pointed assessment of the state’s fiscal health, Simón Díaz questioned the administration’s handling of public funds. He noted that while the state has received over 125 billion pesos in funding over the last five years, visible public works and infrastructure projects account for only approximately 30 billion pesos. This discrepancy leaves a staggering 95 billion pesos unaccounted for, leading the community leader to demand transparency regarding the fate of these resources.
Simón Díaz, a resident of Ciudad del Carmen, admitted that he initially supported Layda Sansores’ rise to power in hopes of seeing meaningful change. However, he stated that five years of governance have shifted his perception, as the state continues to face significant systemic problems.
Security Crisis and Call for Accountability
Beyond financial concerns, Simón Díaz highlighted a dire security crisis, specifically in Ciudad del Carmen. He lamented the high murder rates and the prevailing sense of impunity for criminals, stating that the city has never faced such challenges in its history.
In response to these conditions, he called for the immediate removal of Marcela Muñoz Martínez from her position and demanded a significant increase in police patrols in the city center, where he claims there is currently a visible lack of security personnel.
Demands for Public Reform
The community leader argued that public resources should be prioritized for essential services, including healthcare, hospital beds, technology, and improved infrastructure. He concluded by calling for a formal investigation into the funds allocated to officials and legislators. Furthermore, he urged the citizenry to take a stand and demand tangible results from both the state government and the local city council.
