The Puebla State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported the arrest of two alleged members of the Colombian gang Tren de Aragua in the capital of Puebla.
During the state government’s press conference, the head of the office, Idamis Pastor Betancourt, specified that they are Anderson N., alias “El Chaux,” and Jeiner Alexis N., alias “El Mechas.”
She stated that the two Colombian citizens are allegedly linked to the “drop by drop” extortion scheme at the Manuel Rivera Anaya Housing Unit.
To aid the investigation, the Puebla Attorney General’s Office urged citizens to report any victims of the Colombian gang Tren de Aragua.
At the same time, she asserted that as an authority, she will not allow any national or international criminal group to cause violence in the state of Puebla.
During their arrest, the individuals were found selling narcotics and carrying various packages containing substances similar to marijuana and methamphetamine.
In addition to being linked to this extortion scheme, they are also accused of extorting money from merchants through threats of physical harm or the destruction of their establishments.
Tren de Aragua originated more than a decade ago.
The criminal group known as Tren de Aragua, which currently has a presence in Puebla, is in the crosshairs of the United States.
However, its existence dates back to 2014, when it was founded from within the Tocoron prison in Aragua, Venezuela.
According to local media, the group controlled the prison and even enjoyed certain privileges, from a swimming pool to a bar and a zoo.
However, it was also behind kidnappings, homicides, and robberies, all from the Venezuelan prison.
In the case of Puebla, the presence of gangs made up of foreigners is a reality, as one is dedicated to stealing luxury watches.
It is known that the members are of Colombian origin and have already attacked areas such as Plaza Arcángeles and Lomas de Angelópolis.
Among the most high-profile cases is that involving Labor Party (PT) representative Antonio López, who is on the list of victims of watch thefts.
