The project was initiated during the six-year term of former governor Mauricio Vila Dosal of the PAN party, and was finally officially inaugurated years later by the Morena government.

New O’Horán Hospital: Recently inaugurated by President Claudia Sheinbaum in Mérida, offering free high-specialty cardiac and brain surgeries.

The Hospital General Dr. Agustín O’Horán was officially inaugurated in Mérida, Yucatán. Managed under the federal IMSS-Bienestar network, the facility is designed with “zero cash registers,” guaranteeing 100% free medical care, surgeries, and medicines for people without social security.

Key Medical Capabilities & Tech

  • Advanced Surgeries: The hospital provides free open-heart (cardiac) and brain (neurological) surgeries using a new-generation angiograph.
  • Robotic Medicine: It integrates advanced robotic surgery systems and operating rooms assisted by artificial intelligence.

  • Emergency Features: It features an integrated heliport to receive critical patients via air ambulance.
