On Saturday, March 14, 2026, the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) reported that between the night of March 13 and the early morning of March 14, officers responded to reports in the port of Progreso regarding a disturbance and damage to video surveillance infrastructure in the La Ciénega area and the Feliciano Canul Reyes neighborhood.

Based on on-site observations, a group of people threw rocks, endangering the local population and damaging municipal vehicles and video surveillance equipment. During the response, reports were also received regarding alleged incendiary devices and explosions. The use of incendiary devices and the burning of vehicles were not confirmed. To control the situation, personnel implemented deterrent measures in accordance with protocol, including the use of blank cartridges. One person sustained a minor injury and was evaluated at the scene, requiring no hospitalization.
