During the operation, five other people were arrested, a clandestine laboratory was dismantled, and 270 kilograms of fentanyl were seized.
The operation involved personnel from the SSPC (Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection), the FGR (Attorney General’s Office), and the Semar (Secretariat of the Navy), in coordination with the Army and the National Guard.
Federal authorities arrested Yair N in the municipality of Villa de Álvarez, Colima. He was identified as the alleged leader of a criminal cell dedicated to the trafficking and sale of fentanyl and methamphetamine, reported the head of the SSPC, Omar García Harfuch.
According to a post by the official on social media, the actions were the result of intelligence and investigative work carried out by institutions that make up the Security Cabinet, with information shared with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
During the operations, five other people were also arrested, and approximately 270 kilograms of fentanyl, equivalent to about 14 million doses, were seized.
According to García Harfuch, as a result of the investigation into a cell dedicated to the distribution of synthetic drugs, two residences in the municipality of Villa de Álvarez were identified as allegedly being used as a clandestine laboratory and warehouse for storing narcotics.
The agents gathered evidence that was presented to a judge, who issued the corresponding search warrants. This followed surveillance operations in the vicinity of the two identified locations.
The SSPC (Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection) reported that during the operation, searches were carried out at both properties, where six people were arrested, including the alleged leader of the criminal group.
