Before the Council of the International Brahman Federation, the governor of Yucatan, Joaquin “Huacho” Diaz Mena, invited producers and breeders from various countries to participate in the event, which will take place from November 10 to 15 at the Yucatán International Fair.
From the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo 2026, considered the world’s largest livestock event, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena promoted the World Brahman Congress Yucatán 2026 to international producers, breeders, and specialists. The congress will be held from November 10 to 15 at the Yucatán International Fair.
During his participation in this livestock exposition, held from March 2nd to 22nd at NRG Park, a venue that hosts international competitions, auctions, and agricultural exhibitions, the governor of Yucatán addressed representatives of the cattle industry from various countries in both Spanish and English. He extended an invitation to them to participate in this global event to be held in the Yucatecan capital.
Speaking to members of the International Brahman Federation Council, Díaz Mena emphasized that Yucatán has been a key player in the development of Brahman cattle in Mexico, thanks to the work of its producers in genetic improvement and breeding programs.
He explained that the 2026 World Brahman Congress, considered the most important international gathering for this cattle breed, will be held in Xmatkuil, near Mérida, and will bring together between four and five thousand participants from various countries. The program will include international conferences, livestock exhibitions, technical workshops, auctions, and field visits.
During his remarks, the governor also highlighted Yucatán’s strengths as the event’s host state, as well as its tourist and cultural attractions, mentioning iconic destinations such as Chichén Itzá, Uxmal, protected natural areas, Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns), colonial cities, and Yucatecan cuisine—elements that will be part of the experience for international visitors.
As part of the presentation, a promotional video of Yucatán was shown, aiming to showcase the state’s productive, tourist, and cultural capabilities to the international livestock community.
Organizers of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo noted that this is the first time a governor has been given the opportunity to speak in the event’s international hall, allowing them to present the details of the World Brahman Congress to be held in Mérida to the global livestock community.
The invitation generated interest among breeders and livestock representatives from Texas, Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Guatemala, among other countries, who expressed their willingness to participate in the international meeting to be held in Yucatán.
As part of his work agenda, the governor also met with prominent Brahman cattle breeders in Texas, including renowned rancher Steve Hudgins, with whom he exchanged experiences on genetics, livestock development, and international cooperation.
