An Italian photographer, who is a student at Tec de Monterrey, was brutally attacked at “El Mencho’s” funeral in Zapopan, Jalisco.
An Italian photographer, identified as a student at the Monterrey Institute of Technology (Tec de Monterrey), was attacked by unknown assailants inside the Recinto de La Paz cemetery in the municipality of Zapopan, Jalisco.
According to a video that went viral on social media, the young man had visible injuries to his face and was bleeding after allegedly being beaten by a group of people at the cemetery, where the funeral of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho,” the alleged leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, was taking place.
In the recording, the student recounted what happened:
“I was just attacked… I was here at the cemetery… taking photos… because I’m a photography student… and suddenly several people came… I don’t know how many… and they started hitting me.”
The young man added:
“They hit me in the face… they punched me… they kicked me… I don’t know why… I was just taking pictures… I didn’t do anything wrong… I just wanted to document… and they attacked me like this…”
According to his testimony, the attack occurred inside the cemetery while he was trying to document the funeral.
“They hit me really hard… look at me… the blood… everything hurts… it was inside the cemetery… where they’re burying ‘Mencho’… and they didn’t even let me get close.”

In another statement, he added:
“I don’t know who they were… but there were several of them… and they left me lying here… I’m really scared… I wasn’t expecting this…”
The images show the young man with a bloody face, visibly affected by the blows. So far, neither local authorities nor the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (Tec de Monterrey) have commented on any arrests or issued an official statement regarding the attack.
