PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Quintana Roo, February 22, 2026 – Public Safety, Civil Protection, and Fire Department personnel remain deployed at various locations in Playa del Carmen following the recent acts of violence in the city.
According to reports, local agencies are working in coordination with the State Police and federal authorities to address the situation and reinforce security.
Authorities indicated that the operation remains active to prevent further incidents and ensure security in strategic areas.
The public was also urged to stay informed through official channels and avoid spreading rumors while operations continue.
Agency officials stated that the operational presence will be maintained permanently.
Vehicle fires and roadblocks are reported on the Cancún-Leona Vicario highway.
Via social media, users are also reporting fires in stores in Tulum, Cozumel, and Playa del Carmen. All of this is allegedly related to the killing of El Mencho
