The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has ruled out reports that a bus carrying dozens of people was hijacked on the Ciudad Valles-Mante highway in the Huasteca Potosina region on Sunday, February 15. They reported that while the abandoned bus was located, there is no indication that any of the passengers are missing.
According to the agency’s statement, members of the Investigative Police arrived at the scene and conducted the corresponding fieldwork. This investigation revealed that only two people were on board the bus: the driver and a passenger. Both have since been located.
Nevertheless, based on the discovery and the interviews conducted, an investigation has been opened based on the Standardized Police Report (IPH) submitted by members of the State Civil Guard.
Finally, the institution stated that considerable progress has been made in the investigation and that they are in constant communication with the bus company to fully clarify what happened and pursue the corresponding legal action.
It should be noted that in recent hours, rumors circulated on social media and some local news outlets that the bus was full of passengers who were allegedly forced off the vehicle abruptly, leading to speculation that dozens of people had been kidnapped; however, the Attorney General’s Office (FGE) rejects this version of events.
