The bodies were discovered on Wednesday, February 11th, around 2:15 p.m. near the bridge connecting to the old highway to Navolato. Unofficially, it is presumed they may be the men kidnapped on Saturday, February 7.

A white, older-model Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck with Sinaloa license plates was found abandoned Wednesday afternoon, February 11, on the northbound lane of the Benito Juárez Highway, also known as La Costera, near the bridge connecting to the old highway to Navolato and leading to the Buenos Aires ejido in the San Pedro district.

According to the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), the discovery was made around 2:15 p.m. after authorities received a report of a suspicious vehicle, allegedly containing bodies. National Guard officers from the Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and confirmed the presence of deceased individuals both in the bed of the pickup truck and inside the cab.

Authorities confirmed that the victims were five men, all of whom showed signs of violence. One body was found decapitated, another dismembered, and three others were intact, all bearing signs of torture. Some of the bodies were covered with a green tarp in the truck bed.

Security forces cordoned off the area from all three levels of government, while personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office carried out the corresponding procedures and removed the bodies. As of now, the identities of the victims have not been officially released, nor have any arrests been reported.

Unofficially, it has been reported that the five deceased individuals may be the men who were kidnapped last Saturday while returning from the port of Mazatlán to Ahome. A minor is believed to be among them.
