Authorities Seize Drug Shipment and Arrest Two at Mérida-Campeche Highway Checkpoint

Agents from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), investigators, and the K-9 Unit of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), along with personnel from the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA), the National Guard, and the Navy, seized various drugs and arrested two people during an operation on the Campeche-Mérida highway.

At a checkpoint along this stretch of highway, a white cargo truck was stopped. Canine units inspected the truck and detected the presence of synthetic and natural drugs, including marijuana, crystal meth, and crack cocaine, with an estimated street value of approximately 69 million pesos.

José Juan “N”, 26, from the state of Puebla, and Luis Enrique “N”, 45, from the State of Mexico, were arrested at the scene. The vehicle originated in the state of Jalisco and was headed to Quintana Roo, with a stopover in Yucatán.

Both the seized substances and the detainees were immediately turned over to the Attorney General’s Office, which will continue the corresponding investigations.

Authorities reiterate their commitment to working in coordination to combat drug trafficking on highways and at strategic points in the region.

Citizens are also urged to report any suspicious or illegal activity to the emergency number 9-1-1 or the anonymous tip line 089.
