By the end of the year, the port city will host competitions that will attract thousands of visitors, giving a significant boost to the local economy.
Sporting events are becoming a major driving force behind Mazatlán’s development by attracting thousands of visitors, as highlighted by the Secretary of Tourism for Sinaloa.
Mireya Sosa Osuna indicated that several competitions will be held by the end of 2025, benefiting the port city both in terms of visitor arrivals and its economy.
“Mazatlán is an ideal setting for sporting competitions, as we have top-notch infrastructure for these types of events, in addition to beautiful beaches and tourist attractions that competitors and their families can enjoy while in the port,” she stated.
He highlighted the Mazatlán Cup, a 7-a-side and women’s soccer tournament, which will bring together more than 6,000 people in the port city from November 5th to 9th.
Sunday, November 9th, will be a historic day, as Mazatlán will host the L’Étape México by Tour de France 2025 cycling race. The event will take place amidst scenery that combines sea, city, and Sinaloan culture, with routes of 40, 70, and 120 kilometers, and will feature more than 1,200 national and international cyclists.
Hotel occupancy in the port city is expected to exceed 9,450 rooms that weekend alone, generating an estimated economic impact of 36 million pesos. This event will also provide national and international exposure, positioning Mazatlán as a leading sports tourism destination.
On Sunday, November 16, the third edition of “La Ruta Mazatlán 2025” will take place, a recreational bike ride around the port. Eight hundred participants and their companions are expected to attend, generating an estimated economic impact of over 7 million pesos.
From November 19 to 23, the Mazatlán Baseball Tournament will be held, with an expected attendance of over 4,000 people.
Additionally, the port will host the Mazatlán Basketball Cup, also from November 19 to 23, with the participation of over 2,500 people.
From November 26 to 29, the TopTenis Women’s League 2025 will be held, with an expected attendance of approximately 300 people, including competitors and their families, and an estimated economic impact of nearly 4 million pesos.
