The Yucatan political mercenary

Harry Rodríguez Botello Fierro

According to Sol Yucatan, Harry Rodríguez Botello Fierro, the local representative and the man behind the Green Party in Yucatán, has lived off the public purse for over two decades.

Harry Rodríguez Botello Fierro is a political parasite, because he has been living off the public purse for just over two decades.

He discovered in the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico a way to live like a millionaire, practically without breaking a sweat.

Although he is a lawyer by profession, he has never practiced law, as he has no need to.

He is originally from Mexico City, where in 2002, he began holding positions in the Tucán Party. In 2012, he arrived in Yucatán to join the alliance with the PRI for the governorship of Yucatán, an election he won by nominating Rolando Zapata Bello.

Since then, he has “kidnapped” the PVEM in Yucatán, doing all he can within the party and using the budget as he pleases without clarifying the party’s expenses. He is known as the chameleon or mercenary of politics, because he changes parties to suit his interests and maintain his privileges. As an example, he has been a local deputy in Yucatán, all through the plurinominal route, supported by the PRI, PAN, and Morena.

The reality is that the Green Party has not managed to establish a foothold in Yucatán. Despite operating in the state for 18 years, it has managed to “survive” thanks to its alliances with other parties in each election, the beneficiary of which is Botello Fierro.

Botello Fierro, the current local deputy, is accused of being a political freeloader; he has demonstrated the skill to adapt and forge alliances that allow him to remain in the political scene.

His greatest achievements are the initiative to recycle school notebook paper, and he shied away from the state water law when it was discussed. He also voted against the legalization of abortion in Yucatán.

The leader has become a true magician at making that political party’s resources disappear.

Because public funding, government fees, and contributions from Morena, as his ally in the 4T, have simply disappeared.

The Green Party receives public funding. According to the 2025 fiscal package, the Green Party receives 10 million 661 thousand 594 pesos, between prerogatives and additional funding.

Therefore, the party chaired by Botello Fierro receives 888,466 pesos each month.

In addition, it receives up to 10.6 million pesos in private contributions, that is, from fees from City Councils or from the Morena leadership itself.

Therefore, the Green Party deputy would have at his disposal at least 21.2 million pesos.

However, it is not known where these resources go, because political work is not visible, the party has no structure, nor politicians with deep roots.
