The explosion of a fireworks warehouse in the town of San Miguel Zacaola, in the municipality of Santo Tomás Hueyotlipan, caused the deaths of at least 4 people.

At 6:45 p.m., the General Coordination of Civil Protection of the state of Puebla reported that “several deaths have been reported preliminary.”

An hour later, at 7:45 p.m., it updated its report, confirming that 4 people died at the scene of the explosion. Two injured people were taken to a hospital, and two others were treated at the scene.

Members of the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA), Civil Protection from the state, and surrounding municipalities arrived at the scene.

As of tonight, they remained in the area responding to the emergency, performing cleanup and risk mitigation work.

The tragedy occurred in a building located on Villa del Tren Street and 8 Norte Street.

The explosion was so large that it shook homes in that town and the surrounding areas in Santo Tomás Hueyotlipan.

The cause of the explosion is currently unknown.
