The clandestine factory where they operated was located in the San Francisco neighborhood of Tlaquepaque, Guadalajara, Jalisco.
The Attorney General’s Office (FGR), through the Specialized Regional Control Prosecutor’s Office (Fecor) and the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office in the state of Jalisco, obtained a court order to charge Grover “A” and Scarlet “S.”
The agency reported that Grover “A” and Scarlet “S” are likely responsible for committing crimes against public health, in the form of counterfeiting and adulterating alcoholic beverages, and crimes against the designation of origin, in the form of producing alcoholic beverages using the designation of origin “TEQUILA.”
According to the investigation file, the legal representative of the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT) reported the existence of a clandestine alcoholic beverage factory called “Lotecito,” located in the San Francisco neighborhood of the municipality of San Pedro Tlaquepaque, which does not comply with the Mexican Official Standard (NOM).
Consequently, the federal prosecutor of the FGR requested a search warrant for the property, which was executed by members of the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), with the support of specialized experts from the institution, the Tequila Regulatory Council, the National Guard, the Ministry of National Defense, and the National Anti-Kidnapping Coordination (CONASE).
Seized on the property were jugs containing a cloudy liquid, labels, more than 540 glass bottles, jars, nine plastic containers, two stills, a distillation unit, pots, and a scale. as well as laboratory equipment consisting of a pipette stand, nine breathalyzers, two tubes, two pipettes, a thermometer, three test tubes, nine beakers, two glass tubes, a box with a digital decimeter, a pH measuring kit, a microscope, and a refractometer.
Therefore, the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (FGR) in Jalisco, after conducting various proceedings and investigations, requested a hearing with the corresponding judge, who ordered Grover “A” and Scarlet “S” to be prosecuted for the aforementioned crimes and two months for further investigation.
