The heavy rains that occurred on the night of Thursday, August 7, in the port of Mazatlán caused multiple damages, including the evacuation of eight people trapped inside their vehicles on Avenida de la Marina.
According to information from Civil Protection, the motorists were stranded in four vehicles that were flooded, so emergency personnel responded to rescue them and bring them to safety.
Several parts of the city experienced significant flooding, posing a risk to residents during and after the rains.
Flooded Roads
In addition to Avenida de la Marina, other roads that were impassable were:
Camarón Sábalo, Manuel J. Clouthier, Emilio Barragán, Santa Rosa and Mazatlán Avenues, Libramiento II in the Jaripillo neighborhood, Cruz Lizárraga Avenue, Reforma Avenue near Gran Plaza, Delfines Avenue, Seminario Avenue, Internacional Norte, as well as streets in the Historic Center neighborhood, such as Benito Juárez, roads around Machado Square, and Aquiles Serdán, among others.
Authorities urged the public to exercise extreme caution. During rainy weather, avoid driving through flooded areas, and in case of any emergency, call 911.
