A state investigative agent (AEI) was killed and another was injured during a confrontation with alleged kidnappers in the Mixteca region of Oaxaca.

The skirmish occurred around midnight this Wednesday, May 7th, on 20 de Noviembre Street, one block away from the municipal palace of the Magical Town of San Pedro y San Pablo Teposcolula.

Following the report of the kidnapping of 30-year-old Misael N. in the town of San Miguel El Grande, the Oaxaca Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported that, through the AEI, in coordination with the state Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, they carried out an operation to free the victim.

During the operations in that town, they identified a vehicle that tried to evade a security checkpoint, so they began a pursuit until they intercepted the vehicle.
The street was cordoned off in Guanajuato by police tape after a shootout.

At that moment, the alleged kidnappers opened fire on the officers who repelled the attack, resulting in the rescue of the kidnapped man alive.

As a result of this attack, one member of the AEI, identified as I.J.A.R., was killed, while another member was injured and taken to a hospital.

Three men from Mexico City and the State of Mexico were arrested for their alleged involvement in the crimes of kidnapping, homicide, and injuries. Long weapons for the exclusive use of the Army were seized from them, and they were placed at the disposal of the corresponding authorities.

The FGE recognized the bravery and commitment of the deceased member, as well as that of L.A.F.B., who was injured in the operation.
