Have Enrique Peña Nieto’s achievements been underestimated?

Former President Enrique Peña Nieto has been criticized by many, but he made important achievements, such as those listed below:

  1. More than four million direct jobs were created during his six-year term.
  2. During his term, Mexico exported more goods than almost all of Latin America combined.
  3. Salaries grew almost 12% above inflation;
  4. He promoted a reform that required millions of teachers to update their skills, prepare, study, and earn their positions.
  5. He promoted an energy reform that allowed Mexico to obtain oil revenues without having to spend (or rather, throw away) billions of dollars; all oil allocations were transparent and filmed. All of them.
  6. He promoted competition in cell phone services.
  7. Port operating capacity was doubled.
  8. He promoted the construction of what would be the best airport in all of Latin America, which would eventually pay for itself.
  9. Popular insurance was helping millions of compatriots.
  10. He was assertive and firm with Donald Trump.
  11. He replaced outdated TV signals with digital ones and gave millions of flat-screen TVs to low-income families.
  12. He supported the construction of a room for the most vulnerable families. These programs no longer exist today.
  13. He replaced outdated TV signals with digital ones and gave millions of flat-screen TVs to low-income families.
  14. Under Peña Nieto, gasoline was removed from its subsidy and allowed to regulate itself with international prices. AMLO promised ten-peso per liter, but that never happened; the Mexican peso doesn’t regulate or impose costs. There are several international factors. The CDE was a prosperous institution in step with the times, promoting clean energy, which Morena and AMLO don’t support.

Ever since Morena took the presidency, the Mexican Social Security Insitute has been left in oblivion like never before.

Pemex has lost more than 500 billion pesos due to poor management and even worse decisions. The crisis is big for the Mexican Energy Sector.

Was there corruption? Yes, because when a lot of money is moved for investment, a lot of interests are involved. This is how the country works, and it has been demonstrated in the current Morena-led government as well. For example, during this pandemic, corruption in the purchase of medical supplies, large projects awarded directly without bidding, etc.

Question: Is it true that today, with Morena as the ruling party, is it an example of honesty and are we better off than under EPN?
The answer is NO. We are considerably worse off in every area: economy, security, healthcare, transparency, investment, and government efficiency. There isn’t a single issue—NOT ONE—where we are better off than when Terrible Enrique governed. And even less so when the current cabinet is made up of improvised and inept individuals, and when a figure like Manuel Bartlett is protected against all odds, which has facilitated influence peddling toward his immediate family and made the refrain of providence and honesty go down the drain.

According to the INEGI (National Institute of Statistics and Geography), corruption has continued to be rampant despite the evangelical and deeply hypocritical proclamations emanating from President López Obrador and now from Claudia Sheinbaum.
