According to the Facebook page “Chiapas sin Censura“, a businessman in Minatitlan, Veracruz, simply had enough, and took the lives of those who charged him with “piso” (protection fee).
“Since we opened the doors of our business, we’ve faced a violent wave of threats that has forced us to make difficult decisions. Today, we decided to close our doors, but not before sharing what we’ve experienced,” said the owner of a bar called Jalisquito in Minatitlán, Veracruz.
The man, angry and powerless, threw the truck he was driving at them just as the men tried to leave with the proceeds of their extortion, running them over. The gunmen lost their lives instantly.
It is known that relatives of these criminals have sworn revenge. Absurdly, their families defend them, knowing full well that they were breaking the law, threatening to kill, and murdering honest citizens.
The leaders and superiors of these criminals have also put the businessman’s name on their hit list. The businessman’s family asks for prayers for the life of this man who acted in self-defense, as the government of this municipality (clearly in collusion with criminal groups) is doing nothing to protect civilians.

The businessman stated: “I lost my freedom and peace, and perhaps one day the bullets of revenge will reach me. My business may never exist again, but knowing that my life will never be the same, I want to tell you that it was them or all my staff. If I have to be judged, do your job, authorities. In the meantime, I do not intend to show my face for security reasons. I did not commit any crime, I acted in self-defense. The criminals are dead; so today was a different story than last week. I publicly apologize to all my employees. I always tried to be as attentive as possible to everyone, and I thank you for finding courage in this situation.”
For millions of Mexicans who work hard every day to bring food to their homes, this man is a hero.
