The case of Justo Rivera Parrazales, a businessman executed in Querétaro, has drawn significant attention due to its alleged connections to political figures and organized crime. Rivera Parrazales was reportedly killed by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) outside a bar in Querétaro on March 8, 2025. His death has been linked to his role as a key figure in financial operations involving public funds and influential individuals.

Rivera Parrazales was known as a close associate of Amílcar Olán Aparicio, a businessman tied to the sons of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), Mexico’s former president. Olán has faced scrutiny for his alleged involvement in securing government contracts and financial dealings that benefited from political connections. Reports suggest that Rivera Parrazales played a role in introducing Olán to lucrative opportunities in the health sector.

The circumstances surrounding Rivera Parrazales’ death have raised questions about the involvement of organized crime and its ties to political networks. His association with Olán and other high-profile figures has fueled speculation about the motives behind his execution. Some sources suggest that his death may have been an attempt to eliminate evidence or silence individuals linked to corruption and illicit activities.

Later, the Querétaro government confirmed that one of the three people executed last weekend aboard Rivera Carrizales’ Lamborghini Urus is Diego Méndez Velázquez, aka “El Changuito,” son of José de Jesús Méndez Vargas, alias “El Chango Méndez,” leader of the La Familia Michoacana Cartel, and one of the 29 Mexican kingpins recently extradited to the United States.

The case highlights Mexico’s complex interplay between politics, business, and organized crime. It underscores the challenges of addressing corruption and ensuring accountability in a landscape where such connections often blur the lines of legality.
