Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected President Claudia Sheinbaum’s statements on the Pedro Castillo case, accusing her of “ignoring the failed coup d’état” and holding an “ideological position.”
But the tone of the statement did not go unnoticed on social media:
They refer to the president as “Mrs.” Sheinbaum, ignoring the diplomatic protocol that requires referring to heads of state with their corresponding titles.
The language is more confrontational than diplomatic, with phrases like “ideological position” and “marked disrespect.”
Respect is demanded for Mexico… while using a tone that contradicts that same request.
More than an official message, it seems like a political claim.
