Mexico City, February 2025.- The city of Oaxaca, a World Heritage Site and undisputed epicenter of gastronomy, hosted the eleventh edition of the Presentation Gala of the 2025 Mexican Gastronomic Guide of Culinaria Mexicana, an event that exalts and recognizes the culinary diversity of the country by awarding the 250 best restaurants in Mexico chosen by the Editorial Board of Voters of Culinaria Mexicana, which is made up of 80 figures from the gastronomic, journalistic and business fields.
During the gala, outstanding careers were also recognized among the best in the gastronomic industry, among which Luis Morones, wine manager sommelier of Grupo Presidente, was chosen as sommelier of the year, highlighting the passion and commitment that has characterized him since the beginning of his career.
A graduate of the University of Tourism and Administrative Sciences, Luis Morones decided to continue his path as a Sommelier by starting his career at La Castellana. After completing the wine diploma at the Association of Mexican Sommeliers and after receiving his Professional Sommelier degree, in 2006 he joined the The Palm restaurant at the Presidente InterContinental hotel in Mexico City, where he spent 10 years refining his knowledge and passion for wine.
Before becoming the company’s wine director, Luis Morones worked in all the hotel’s restaurants and, thanks to his impeccable service and 14 years of experience within the group, he was put in charge of the sommeliers at all the restaurants and the hotel’s impressive wine cellar. Today, he has a 19-year career with Grupo Presidente that has allowed him to establish himself as one of the most renowned sommeliers in the country and the world with different awards and recognitions under his belt.

Continuing with the good news, Alfredo Di Roma, Au Pied de Cochon, The Palm, and Tokoya Nigiri Bar were selected as part of the 250 best restaurants in Mexico by this important Guide, which has become a benchmark and whose history began in 2015 at the ChapulÃn restaurant. The Mexican Gastronomic Guide by Culinaria Mexicana/S. Pellegrino/Nespresso, published by Larousse Cocina and presented by Audi de México, represents the diversity of today’s gastronomy, and at the same time recognizes the tireless work of chefs and their teams.
The recognition of these four restaurants at the Presidente InterContinental Mexico City hotel is a sign of the commitment and effort of the chefs who lead each of the kitchens, as well as the dedication and work of their teams.
Over the years, Grupo Presidente has established itself as a gastronomic benchmark, proof of this is the Restaurant Merit Award granted in August 2023 by the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC) to its general director, Braulio Arsuaga Losada, in the category of Chain Director of the Year for the work carried out as an entrepreneur dedicated to the restaurant and hospitality industry.
