Violent dawn in Guanajuato: five decapitated bodies found in Salamanca

The bodies were found on the road that leads to the access to the Cardenas community.

On Saturday, February 8th, five lifeless bodies were found, which were lying and tied up under the Salamanca-Querétaro highway bridge, on the road that leads to the community of Cárdenas. The victims were found mutilated. This is the second incident that has occurred in this town. On January 23, three bodies were also left hanging.

The notification to the emergency systems came around six in the morning when people who were going to work noticed the macabre discovery called 911.

The first to arrive at the scene were the Municipal Police, and a few minutes later, agents of the National Guard and the Mexican Army joined in. Upon arriving at the aforementioned area, they noticed five people lying on the road, their heads missing. The place was immediately secured while waiting for the relevant authorities.

Personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office took control of the investigation, indicating that the necessary expert reports would be carried out to determine the circumstances surrounding this violent event. So far, no official information has been provided on the identity of the people, but it was said that all were men.

The bodies of the victims were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service, where the corresponding legal procedures will be carried out, including the legal autopsy, to establish the identity of the people and the causes of their deaths.

A security device was implemented at the site, which closed access to the community for several hours. It was also said that a banner with a message was left next to the victims, which is unknown at this time. With this shocking incident, the number of deaths in Salamanca has reached nine so far in February.
