During Super Bowl LIX, news broke that shook social media and the Mexican sports media, as the sudden death of 27-year-old reporter Adan Manzano, who worked for Telemundo and Tico Sports, was announced.
The causes of his death have not been clarified, the Mexican reporter was in New Orleans covering Super Bowl LIX between the Eagles and the Chiefs. In light of this fact, Telemundo Kansas City announced this fact through a short statement.
“We regret to share that Adan Manzano, reporter and sports presenter for Telemundo Kansas City, passed away yesterday in New Orleans while on assignment to cover the Super Bowl for Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports. We are cooperating with the authorities as they investigate this tragic event.”
The statement details that local authorities are investigating the causes of his death, which has caused more intrigue around the case.
“Adan was an exceptional professional and a rising star whose dedication and talent reflected excellence in his work. We will deeply miss Adan, his passion for sports, and the contributions he made to the local community.”
Manzano also worked for USA Today’s Tico Sports, which also released a statement reporting the sensitive situation.

Like Telemundo Kansas City, Tico Sports also noted that authorities are investigating Manzano’s death but are not elaborating.
“Adan was a talented and professional broadcaster who provided coverage for the Kansas City Chiefs Spanish broadcast and play-by-play for KC Current. He was an enthusiastic and energetic team player who was well-liked and respected. Adán was a devoted father to his young daughter, a helpful colleague, and a loyal friend.”
Local Louisiana Authorities Arrest Suspect
Following confirmation of Adán’s death, this Friday the local Kenner police in New Orleans reported through a statement that they arrested Danette Colbert, alleged suspect in Manzano’s murder, because the woman used the Mexican reporter’s credit card.
“Officers arrested Danette Colbert of Slidell. The investigation revealed that Colbert was using Mr. Manzano’s credit cards at several stores in the New Orleans area. Additionally, the hotel security video shows Colbert with Mr. Manzano on the morning of February 5, 2025. The footage also shows her leaving the room alone later that morning,” the statement reads.
Adán Manzano leaves behind an orphaned girl, as his wife died in a car accident in 2024.
