Cuauhtémoc Blanco, the former governor of Morelos and ex-football star, is currently facing serious legal and social challenges. Recently, he has been accused of attempted rape by his half-sister, Nidia Fabiola Blanco. The alleged incident occurred in late 2023 while Blanco was still serving as governor. Nidia Fabiola has reported that she was threatened with removal from her position if she pursued legal action. The case has drawn significant media attention and raised questions about the handling of such allegations within political circles.

In addition to the rape accusation, Blanco is also facing corruption charges. The current administration of Morelos, led by Governor Margarita González, has detected irregularities amounting to 40 million pesos during Blanco’s tenure. These irregularities involve several government departments, including the Secretariat of Economic Development and the Secretariat of Infrastructure. The accusations have led to a series of denunciations filed with the Fiscalía Anticorrupción.

To make things worse, Cuauhtémoc Blanco is also accused of embezzling billions of pesos, including a transfer of more than 750 billion Mexican pesos from the Morelos treasury to private accounts in Switzerland.

Blanco, who is now a federal deputy for the Morena party, has remained silent on both the rape and corruption allegations. His silence has been interpreted by some as an attempt to avoid further controversy, while others see it as a sign of his confidence in the legal process. The Morena party, to which Blanco belongs, has been criticized for its perceived inaction in addressing the accusations against one of its prominent members.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, the Morelos prosecutor, Juan Salazar, was fired after the accusations against Blanco came to light. Salazar had been handling the corruption cases and was dismissed amid allegations of mishandling the investigations. This move has further fueled public outcry and raised concerns about the integrity of the legal process in Morelos.

The situation is still unfolding, and the legal processes are ongoing. The outcome of these cases will have significant implications for Blanco’s political career and the broader issue of accountability in Mexican politics.
