Starlink is a satellite internet service that provides high-speed internet access from low-orbiting satellites. It’s available in over 100 countries and territories

In a search carried out by military authorities on Wednesday, February 5th, inside the premises of the Aguaruto Culiacán prison, a satellite modem developed by Elon Musk’s company, Starlink, was seized.

Of course, prisoners in Mexican jails are not supposed to have cell phones, much less access to the internet while serving their sentences in penitentiaries. However, the prison system in Mexico is extremely corrupt.

Multiple sharp objects, knives, and bottles of liquor were also found during the inspection of only three of the 25 modules in the building.

The inspection operation conducted by members of Defense, Semar, National Guard, and State Security, was carried out without incident, while the seized objects and equipment were taken to ministerial authorities.
