Salamanca, Gto. Two people died and 12 were injured after an attack that occurred in a party hall in the municipality of Salamanca, a city where violence has worsened in 2025.
Minutes before midnight on Saturday, it was reported that in the Quinta Las Torres party hall, located on Hidalgo Boulevard, in the La Cruz neighborhood, a shooting had been registered, where there were two fatalities, and several injured people.
According to official information provided by the Salamanca Municipal Police Department, a wedding was being held in the party hall, when suddenly armed men arrived at the place and began shooting at the people who were there, everyone began to scream and run to try to take cover, without knowing what was happening; after the shooting stopped, the wedding guests called the emergency number 911 to report the armed attack
More than 50 large-caliber spent shells were found at the scene, which hit 14 people, some of whom were taken by their own means to nearby hospitals.
According to official information from the Salamanca Municipal Police and confirmed by the State Attorney General’s Office, two people who lost their lives were identified as Víctor Manuel N. and Ricardo N.
In addition, the State Attorney General’s Office reported that 12 people were injured, five women and seven men, one of them a teenager.
For its part, the musical group Despegue, which was livening up the party, reported on its social networks about the attack and confirmed that two of its band members were injured.
The first to arrive were Municipal Public Security officers, later the National Guard and the Mexican Army joined, who upon arriving at the party hall, still found injured people, so they had to ask for at least six ambulances to transport the injured.
The area was secured while waiting for the relevant State Prosecutor’s Office to respond, in order to avoid tampering with the scene and thus recover the various spent shells and other evidence that would help clarify this incident.
January has been a complicated month, as at least 28 people have been murdered in Salamanca.
